LOVE THIN CRUST NY PIZZA ?? LOOK NO FURTHER !!
If you LOVE crispy buttery thin crust pizza-- then you HAVE to try TOMATO PIE in silverlake. Since I now live in the silverlake area, I was looking for a good pizza place and all the yelpers seem to be raving about TOMATO PIE-- so of course I had to try it !! they have numerous "gourmet pizzas" but their "house special" is their "tomoato pie" pizza. this is the one I'm going to focus on. it is a thin square of perfectly crisp crust, an aromatic blend of oregano and basil mixed into their rich tomato sauce and a sprinkling of parm on top. that's it-- all for about $2.00 a slice !! once I tasted this little slice of heaven-- I knew if it could taste this cood plain-- it could probably taste even BETTER with mozzarella and pepperoni on top-- so I ordered these toppings for another buck. The only time I have ever had a thin crust square of crispy buttery pizza goodness this fantastic was when barone's pizza was around. they had locations in burbank and in sherman oaks, so when I was working at disney (in burbank) and living next to the galleria (in sherman oaks)-- this was definitely my fave little pizza joint. sadly barone's closed a few yeara back and I have been longing to find a decent replacement (other than pizza hut's thin crust" pepperoni pizza). if you ever want a great slice of $2-$3 thin crust pizza followed by a gorgeous 2 mile long walk around the lake in "silverlake"-- then this is the palce to go. located on hyperion in the heart of silverlake. :)LW

NEED A BURGER FIX ? TRY "THE FIX" IN SILVERLAKE !!
hello fellow la foodies !! so I was seriously craving a burger this evening, and since I'm now spending a bit of time in the silverlake area-- I yelped "burgers in silverlake" and found that "the fix" kept coming up. such split decisions here among my fellow yelpers. are the burgers bland without seasoning-- or are they the most amazing burgers ever eaten on earth ?? are the sweet potato fries soggy and unseasoned-- or are they a little taste of heaven ?? are the sauces here (that accompany the fries) bland and pointless-- or are they the most "orgasmic" experience ever created (not my words-- I know a good orgasm when I see one and I don't know how a sauce can possibly compete !!) anyway... I drove there on a rainy friday night and there was bumper to bumper traffic but I listened to one fellow yelper's advice "there's a secret parking lot in back-- use it"-- so I did. (most helpful thanks !!) I walked in and a very friendly guy asked me what I wanted. well I saw a sign on the counter for the "burger of the month" and read it: 1/3 lb burger, cheese, bacon, red onion, lettuce, tomato & thousand island on a fresh bakery bun. well-- since this sounded fab to me--- I ordered the "burger of the month" with the sweet potato fries. I also ordered the pesto mayo on the side (for the sweet potato fries) as all fellow yelper's swear by this sauce (I can see why)... I must say-- the burger was enormous (I asked for it split in 1/2 based on a fellow yelper's rec) and I'm glad I did. the 1/2 of the burger I ate was a little slice of heaven. yes-- I've had "apple pan", "father's office" and "the counter"-- and this was far and away-- the BEST !! the meat was so juicy-- I had juice just covering my plate !! it was cooked perfectly (medium) and the cheese was perfectly melted and the bacon perfectly crisp. now for the sweet potato fries-- they were crispy on the outside and fluffy on the inside !! the pesto mayo sauce was orgasmic !! the yelper was right-- definitely choose this sauce over sex anytime and you won't be disappointed !! xoxo :-)LW
